Favorite Part of Greek Life: Honestly, it sounds cliche, but it’s the sense of “community” that you find within it. At first, it’s easy to miss or be unaware of, but the older I’ve become, the more I’ve realized that we truly do live in such a unique place and we took this town and created our own little community within it. Thinking about graduating  and being out in the real world are some intimidating thoughts, but not because of “fear of failure” or anything like that; it makes me anxious because I know I won’t ever be one or two blocks down from my best friends. I won’t be able to walk up the street to have a game-night with my sisters. It’s the little things. Sure, the networking is absolutely amazing and all the activities are fun, but it really is the people that make this special. They make it unique. They make it my home.

Best Part of UCSB: Definitely the Office of Student Life. They have opened my eyes to the countless opportunities present for students on campus here at UCSB. They’re the adults that actually lead you to find your own path and help you as much as they can on the way.

Favorite Quote: “You are responsible for your happiness. In fact, you create it. You attract it. You manifest it. You are the architect of your reality. You choose your thoughts, your perceptions, and your reaction to external forces. You possess all of the tools needed to expand your awareness, to orchestrate the evolution of your consciousness, to choose happiness, to choose love. YOU are that powerful. Create the life you deserve. Vibrate love.” -Unknown

Favorite Part of Greek Life: I love how being a part of Greek life immediately made UCSB feel like home. Joining as a freshman, I felt a sense of support and warmth from the community that made the large campus seem much less intimidating. My sisters, both in my sorority and across the council, provided me with the confidence to seek out jobs, positions, and opportunities that I otherwise wouldn’t have. Much more importantly, these women have given me friendships that have changed my life. Before joining, I never predicted that my sisters would be the most influential in shaping who I am today. Now, as a senior, I can confidently say I am becoming the best version of myself thanks to them. Graduating this year is a scary reality because I can’t imagine being farther than a mile away from all these amazing people, but I know these are the kind of friendships that don’t quickly fade after we walk the stage.

Best Part of UCSB: Everyone here is always so friendly and open to meeting new people. I’m never afraid to spark up a conversation with someone I don’t often talk to or join a club I don’t know very much about because UCSB students are so warm and inviting. I think sometimes college students can be so competitive and independent that it negatively affects relationships with their peers, but here, it seems there is the perfect balance of drive for success and consideration of others. With their infinite support and friendship, the community here empowers me to fearlessly pursue my passions

Favorite Part of Greek Life: My favorite parts of Greek life at UCSB are the relationships that I have made and the opportunities it has given me. Every member of the Greek community can easily tell you that joining one of these organizations will make the giant campus feel much smaller, but only once you are a part of it yourself will you truly understand what that means. I came to UCSB a scared, shy little freshman only knowing one other person going to Santa Barbara. I joined a Greek organization hoping to find friends and to seek advice as a first-generation college student, but I got so much more than that. From my organization, I gained friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life, leadership skills that have lead me to job opportunities and officer positions, and a stronger sense of community at UCSB. I know that when I graduate I will be able to take away the amazing friendships and memories, as well as invaluable skills that have prepared me for the future, and for that, I am truly grateful.

Best Part of UCSB: The best part of UCSB is definitely the atmosphere. The campus is such a positive place and people are incredibly friendly and down to earth. As a member of a Greek organization, I love that I am always seeing familiar faces when I walk on campus and in my classes.  Being so close to the beach, we have the opportunity to walk there between classes to relax or hang out with friends and enjoy the stunning view. I can confidently say that there is truly no place like it! The professors are incredibly approachable and I never feel like I can’t ask questions or get help when I need it. There are so many resources dedicated to helping students and places like the Office of Student Life are filled with an incredible staff that makes our campus even better. UCSB is a college like no other!

Favorite Part of Greek Life:

I don’t think I can pick just one favorite part, because Greek Life has given me so much. Coming from a smaller high school, the class sizes at UCSB we’re a little daunting. Thanks to Greek Life, I always recognize a friendly face in class and have someone to work with. Looking around and seeing all the different letters worn by peers makes the campus seem a lot smaller and more comfortable. Being in a sorority also provides so many rewarding opportunities. I’ve been able to raise money for some of my favorite philanthropies, run for leadership positions, and get job offers because all the connections I’ve made in the last few years. These connections are special because they’re more than just friends you meet in class. These members of the Greek community become family and we all work to make each other better people. The women I’ve met have been so inspiring, friendly, and have pushed me to be who I am today. I made the right decision going through recruitment because I truly feel that we build strong, responsible women and make life long friends. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Best Part of UCSB:

Aside from the breathtakingly gorgeous campus we’re so lucky to call home, I’d have to say that the best part of UCSB is the genuinely positive atmosphere that we have. People are always smiling and really easy to talk to and I think that’s something really special about being a Gaucho. It makes it easy to break out of your shell, because people just want to get to know each other. This feeling of openness is reflected in all we do. Between on-campus events, Extravaganza, and just spending time at the library there are always good vibes on campus. With that being said, all the clubs and organizations are super friendly and make it really easy to make friends here. UCSB is just a sunny and happy place to be for me!

Favorite Part of Greek Life: My favorite parts of Greek life are the opportunities and friendships it has given me. I've met some of my favorite people who have helped me through some of the toughest parts of my life and who inspire me everyday. My sisters, both in my own sorority and council-wide, taught me to believe in myself when I didn't want to, encouraged me to pursue things I didn't think I could accomplish, and helped me to be a better version of myself. I've even gotten my foot in the door for my dream career from connections made in my chapter. I never thought I'd publicly say such mushy sentiments, but I wouldn't if it weren't absolutely true. My experience here changed my life for the better, and I couldn't ask for anything more.

Best Part of UCSB: My favorite part of UCSB is hands down the people I have met. I feel so grateful to live in our beautiful home by the sea, but it would mean nothing if it weren't for the relationships I've built in my time here. As a more introverted person, I've always kept to myself with having a few close friends, but being a part of Greek life and student journalism on campus has made my college experience more than I ever thought it would be. I never thought I could be the person I am today, but I'm proud to say that I made it here with my friends by my side and my dreams within reach. :)

Favorite Part of Greek Life: I have loved finding a space of like-minded men and women who come together to empower each other and create a social space that emphasizes leadership, success, service, and most importantly friendship. These people motivate and inspire me to succeed, explore new hobbies, and push my own abilities to become the absolute best version of myself.

Best Part of UCSB: The genuine and friendly atmosphere, the close-knit community, and the beach-side access. Coming to UCSB was easily the best decision of my life because of the community it introduced me to. The students here care about each other and are filled with a type of positive energy that I have yet to encounter at any other school. Granted, it's hard to be upset when you have unlimited days of sunshine, sand, and saltwater at your footstep while attending classes. However, whenever I'm having a hard day I can always count on the random acts of kindness that I am forever presented with from my fellow Gauchos.

Favorite Part of Greek Life:

The best part of Greek life is that you are never alone. I never had such a strong support system that consist of strong and empowering women. The people in this community will really push you to strive to be a better person everyday. I never thought I would win a college election when running for a senator position as a first year, but with the support and encouragement I had from the Greek community I was able to be successful and win. The opportunities you gain from Greek life and the people you meet will make UCSB your home. I have made so many lifelong best friends who I know I can always rely on and will always help me be the best version of myself. I cannot imagine life at UCSB without Greek Life.

Best Part of UCSB: The best part of UCSB is easily the students in it. I have never met such ambitious, intelligent, kind, and soulful group of people. Being an orientation leader, I have met a majority of the incoming class of UCSB and the one thing each student had in common was the passion of helping people. These are the people you will surround yourself with in the next couple of years of your life and that is an amazing opportunity.
